Kitchen Choices

So I realized I didn't post Kitchen pictures, so here goes...

When I began looking at our choices with Ryan Homes I was originally drawn to the dark cabinets and light counters... which is a very popular trend right now. However, we wanted a classic look and that trend is too modern for our long term tastes. We didn't want a country look either and after choosing our wood floor colors, that definitely did not work.
But these were the two cabinet choices we were considering.

Granite was an included feature for us for the kitchen... woot! woot!...
When JD and I looked at the granite choices (which are about 5 without a massive jump in price, like $4500 with the gourmet island, which we got) there were 2 I really liked, but only one he did.  He said most of them look like they could be in the courthouse hehehehe.

Originally I liked the Santa Cecelia.... but the more I looked at it, and then after JD did, I agreed it was very yellow. And went too much toward the country look with our other choices. Pretty though. :)

So what we chose is the one pictured above, New Caledonia. It has tan, silver, black and even white/grey reflective flecks... its a good mix of modern and classic. And these pictures don't do it justice because it is preeetty. At least with the mix of colors we are getting.

The cabinet we chose is the one on the left, Andover Square Maple Spice by Timberlake. We chose these not only because of how they look against the black appliances and the wood floors, but also because the cabinet upgrades are mostly a charge for a few inches of wider drawer and a wood door, still with veneer. There wasn't enough value in that for us, at least for the choices we liked. (The cabinet face pictured to the right was our second choice, Scottsdale Square Maple Cognac by Timberlake.)

These Andovers still look crisp and classic, and we will add hardware too. I'm thinking long bar handles in chrome.

So yea... wood floors, black appliances, granite counters... good kitchen! I can't wait for it to be done because I think it's going to gorgeous.

Here are some more pictures just showing all of the choices together. Enjoy!
Wish you could see the sparkles!

Washed out picture but Cabinets, granite, and wood floor together.
Different angle, with the black appliance.
The other cabinets would have blended with the floor, and we like classic contrast. (This floor has skinnier boards than ours will; ours will look a bit darker, plus this is a bit washed out too.)
What do you think?
